October has been full of birthday parties, fall break and Halloween surprises. October has become one of my favorite times of the year. My other favorite day has to be the day after Thanksgiving because I love the shopping mayhem. I know I'm crazy!

The kids started the month off with a field trip to Jackson's Orchard where they learned about apple cider. After a short movie, the kids enjoyed a refreshing cup of apple slush. Don't be deceived, there was really only a quarter of a cup of juice and the rest really was slush. The kids were hot from sliding down the nice slides and very ready for a refreshment. The slush's didn't exactly go as planned. Overall, I think the kids really enjoyed the break away from school. It was fun seeing Evan and Elizabeth interact with their classmates.

Fall Break was October 5-13th, and I think most of Bowling Green was heading to Destin, FL. Paul was scheduled to take his Oral Boards exam during that week, so we did not schedule a family vacation. Instead, we went to the Louisville Zoo, Chuck E Cheese and Imagination Station. It was a great week! Thankfully, the kids were ready to go back to school, and I was ready to send them.

<img style="cursor:pointer; I can't believe my babies have started kindergarten. They are in Mrs. Lowery's class. When Elizabeth is placed in a new, unfamiliar situation she does great. Evan, on the other hand, panics. He gets so insecure in new situations. It's hard to watch. After his first day of school, Evan said mommy I was missing you the whole day. Over the weekend he has been clingy to his mommy, which is a good thing. Evan and Elizabeth come home everyday from school thirsty and starving. I know they eat their lunch, but school must give them an appetite. School must change their attitudes too because they have become very aggressive to one another. Pushing, hitting, and just really cranky. They don't act tired, so I guess they are taking their frustrations out on each other. Frustrations of having to be quiet the whole day. We'll see how this next week goes. So far, they are still very aggressive towards one another.

Disney Trip

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SiRqMXx9pEI/AAAAAAAAAmI/C9wHjlr7itU/s200/DSCN0860.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342511818742801474" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SiRpeYRDpSI/AAAAAAAAAmA/WCsniDBgAsg/s200/DSCN1064.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342511028599235874" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SiRpQAcP8sI/AAAAAAAAAl4/P3Ifk_oVJNU/s200/DSCN0895.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342510781685560002" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SiRo1V_W2yI/AAAAAAAAAlw/5axEhUMscA4/s200/DSCN1028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342510323613489954" />

We had an amazing family vacation in Orlando this past week. I am so blessed to have a family that loves life. My sister and her family, my mom and dad, my uncle and my family decided to go to Disney World! We went to Magic Kingdom 4 of the 7 days. I think Paul and I had memorized the map by the end of the week. Elizabeth loved meeting all the princesses. Evan loved the Peter Pan ride. Both kids liked Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot, but the Magic Kingdom was by far their favorite Disney park. For those Disney Lovers, right now AAA has a great deal for the value resorts. Here are a few of my favorite pictures.

Easter Time!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SdqPLPRKoZI/AAAAAAAAAk4/2E94CFdQN18/s200/Picture+039.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321723332931527058" />
I'm hoping that by the end of the month Evan and Elizabeth will understand the true meaning of Easter and why we celebrate it as a holiday. Right now, Evan thinks the Easter bunny acts a lot like Santa Claus. You go sit on his lap and tell him what you want for Easter. Most of these posted pics are from our church eater hunt. Mom and dad hosted it again this year at their house. The kids had a great time. I think Elizabeth found 3 out of the 4 prize eggs. She is a true collector. Last year she focused in on pink eggs. This year, I think her goal was to find as many eggs as possible before being told to stop in order to let others have some eggs.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SdqPZr7k-uI/AAAAAAAAAlA/kgcRlFgLRWI/s200/Picture+042.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321723581143775970" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SdqPm85GYGI/AAAAAAAAAlI/O5uD3jlz1B0/s200/Picture+044.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321723809035083874" />

Wilderness at the Smokies

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SbmNIgxW2xI/AAAAAAAAAjc/RYmCqkvaugs/s200/DSCN0688.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312432412835633938" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SbmNCactELI/AAAAAAAAAjU/zt1iCSk16Jw/s200/DSCN0679.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312432308059181234" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SbmM7xKb42I/AAAAAAAAAjM/lrifO8fgvH0/s200/DSCN0694.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312432193897489250" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SbmMwSrJVkI/AAAAAAAAAjE/FwL0zhiOohA/s200/DSCN0692.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312431996734625346" />

The kids have been itching to go swimming this winter. Our weather is so crazy that we actually have some winter days that feel warm enough to go swim. We read up on a few places that have indoor water parks. One being Wilderness at the Smokies. So, we packed the family up and headed South. An indoor water park is the perfect answer to wintertime blues for those that love to swim. Wilderness at the Smokies had a surf zone, wave pool, three water slides, and 2 kid areas (one intended for those under 42 inches, and one intended for the little tykes). Best of all, there was a huge hot tub that actually ran outside of the hotel. When we went it was sleeting, so we were enjoying the hot and the cold all at the same time. Pretty neat! There was height restrictions on most attractions. Fortunately, Evan and Elizabeth were tall enough to ride on almost everything. The only con to the water park is that we stayed cold. The water was about 80-82 degrees which is really too cold. The perfect temp would have been 85-90 degrees. Plus, they had large fans running which made the air cold. We had a lot of fun, but it was cold. Eating in the hotel was also very expensive. Here are some pics from our trip. The random little boy in one of the pictures above(I don't know his name) took up with Evan in the little tyke's area and kept calling Evan "cousin". We got a kick out of them playing together.

Fancy Nancy Party

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SZdM5_CiOlI/AAAAAAAAAiM/DJUSqZg2KUc/s200/DSCN0659.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5302791645310368338" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SZdMtSJpVfI/AAAAAAAAAiE/bwVQ0R6mkDM/s200/DSCN0649.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5302791427102168562" />
I'm so thankful for my sister Tiffany. She plans all the cool stuff for the kids. When Tiffany invited us to the party, I knew it would be right up Elizabeth's ally because she loves being a princess. Fancy Nancy is a fictional character that thinks more is always better. That means wearing a boa, high heels, and lots of fancy jewelry. We took Karson and Elizabeth to eat at a fancy restaurant (Cracker Barrel) and then went to the party. The girls decorated a tiara, ate tea cookies and were read 2 Fancy Nancy books. Don't forget, pinkie up. They had a lot of fun. Elizabeth still talks about the party.

Snow Angel Cousins

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SXXm7uYjZSI/AAAAAAAAAh8/22RfeO57RJw/s200/DSCN0612.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293390850781570338" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SXXmyI5dDcI/AAAAAAAAAh0/_0_WzrER8Lw/s200/DSCN0610.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293390686100196802" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SXXmoirYxhI/AAAAAAAAAhs/joM8FH-uxiE/s200/DSCN0609.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293390521221826066" />
This may be our only chance this year to play in the snow. Elizabeth loves to play in the snow! When we lived in Louisville, we had several snow days where we enjoyed sledding with our neighbors. She was so excited when she saw the snow on the ground, even if just a dusting. Since school was out on Monday, Karson spent the night with Elizabeth. The girls are such good friends and had a blast playing in the snow; a bonus to the fun they always have together.

Christmas and New Year

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SWFVTY3HYMI/AAAAAAAAAhE/foIAaQ_Kt2Y/s200/DSCN0552.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287601229089169602" />
This year Christmas was so much fun. Evan and Elizabeth are at that perfect age. I think Paul and I counted 6 Santa visits. One special visit comes to mind. On Christmas Eve, Santa showed up at Mamaw and Pappy's house with some very special presents. Evan got a policeman costume and Elizabeth got a bubble machine. These are toys Evan and Elizabeth had asked Santa for Christmas. Evan also asked for spider man gloves, a Diego phone and a purple transformer. Elizabeth also asked for a kitty cat.

New Year:
For New Year's, Paul and I hosted a party for our family and friends. It was so much fun. The highlight was watching the adults play Rock Band. They replied that they liked the popcorn and candy. Typical answer. I guess the junk food was worth $20. The show lasted 2 hours, so Evan was asleep by the end. Elizabeth hung on until the end, but she was really ready to go after intermission. We all thought the show was excellent and recommend seeing at least once when they perform in Bowling Green. I couldn't get any good pictures of the elephant act, but the elephants were most impressive. Meme and Pops would have enjoyed the wiener dog act, and our whole party enjoyed the bicycle clown. He was very good at riding several types of bikes.

Balloons, Tunes & Barbecue

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SMvEyhKsH4I/AAAAAAAAAbI/WeBVbuEAxSo/s200/DSCN0204.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5245502563178782594" />
Mom, dad and I took Evan, Elizabeth and Miles to the balloon glow last night. Instead, the kids enjoyed all the carnival type rides and Idol. I think Elizabeth would have hopped on stage if they gave her a microphone. She was watching front and center for a while until she started missing her mommy. Idol wasn't Evan's thing, so we headed for the rides. All finished the night with rides, cotton candy, popcorn, and a coke (the essential junk you have to get at community events). It was an expensive event, but we had a lot of fun.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SMvF6CbX6wI/AAAAAAAAAbg/zCrmbqwzVt8/s200/DSCN0205.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5245503791877843714" />

Day at the Cave

Mom and dad's neighborhood association offered a free day at Lost River Cave today. Hopefully, it will be a great year!

Birthday Bash at Beach Bend

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SH-x9c3vBII/AAAAAAAAAXg/fqtrTK5QaL0/s320/IMG_0742.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224089762053162114" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SH-xjOIUyzI/AAAAAAAAAXY/6Fhh8HNIruA/s320/IMG_0735.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224089311419616050" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_nb23Q9GH2gw/SH-xGtQz7ZI/AAAAAAAAAXQ/oM_eLEDA8BY/s320/IMG_0725.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224088821560503698" />
One of Evan and Elizabeth's birthday presents was a season pass to Beach Bend. Lucky kids! They love going to "the Beach" (as Evan puts it), so we decided to have their birthday party at "the Beach" this year. We were so pleased that some of their beloved friends from Louisville were even able to share in the fun. Apparently, there are 2 party rooms at Beach Bend, one of which is incredibly smaller. We were assigned the smaller room or loft, but we only thought there was one party room - the big room. A big thanks goes out to Matt Deaton and whomever else was leading the pack through the front gate to the party room in creating the confusion that landed us the big room:)

Evan has been into Spider Man and received a Spider Man costume for his birthday. Even though it was about 90+ degrees, he wore that costume the entire day. And, continued to wear the costume the following 4 days. The Spider Man costume is currently in time out.

Elizabeth loved all her princess and Barbie presents. When she disappears for more than a couple of minutes, I can always assume she is dressing up in some of her princess costumes.

Derby Festivities

Thursday was packed full of Derby activities. The parade had several marching bands including UofL's marching band. Patrick Hughes, who is legally blind, plays trumpet for U of L and was featured on Home Makeover several months ago, so we were able to see him in action. The parade also had a float with past and present pageant princesses. Elizabeth liked this float because the girls were wearing such pretty dresses. Evan liked the helicopter float. Both kids were especially excited when the float with Dora and Boots rode by. Several clowns also walked by giving the kids Hi 5's. Overall, we had a great time. I have to say thank goodness for pink and blue cotton candy.

Sad Day

Our neighbors Will and Jacob have a swing set that they have outgrown. He proceeded to try and put the swing back on the post which was on the ground. Evan was very expressive about being upset at the situation. Those of you that know Evan, know what I mean. They love to go to websites Playhouse Disney and Nick Jr. to play games, activities and watch videos. It was really cute at first, but now it has become their obsession. Elizabeth gets really frustrated if she can't play a game or she presses the wrong button. Evan just goes with the flow which usually means he is bossed by his sister. Both are getting really good at using the mouse and navigating their way around the screen.

Busy Week

Paul and I often joke that when big events happen in our family, they come in multiples. After coming back from the beach with Matt and Tiffany, Paul and I went on the house search. Paul has signed to start in July at the Medical Center of Bowling Green, so we have had a great time searching for the perfect house for our family. Our main goal was finding a house in close proximity with the hospital. We are excited to announce that after 3 weeks of searching, we will be closing on a house on May 12th. The address is 15 Talbott Dr. Yeah!!! Now, we just need to sell our house in Louisville. Needless to say, we have been on the phone with Realtors and loan officers all week. To make things even more exciting, Evan was scheduled to have a circumcision revision and a meatomy on April the 2nd. The surgery lasted for an hour and went really well. It seemed like a miracle when as early as the day of surgery Evan was able to use the potty without help. He was so excited and at the same time a little confused and a little in pain. When we brought him home from the hospital he needed to go pee, but as soon as he started there was a burning sensation so he kept himself from peeing. He was in so much pain! We kept thinking it was from the surgery and stitches. We were doing everything we were told to do with medication. Finally, Evan decided that he needed to pee again. After he peed, he was much happier and in less pain. We were so relieved! The day after, you would have never known Evan had surgery. He was jumping, doing somersaults, rough housing. A completely different kid. We are still treating his stitches with Neosporin + pain. He still has a little burning after peeing, but over all he is doing really well. Thanks to all who prayed for Evan and have kept him in your thoughts.

On a lighter note, Paul and I will be celebrating our 8th anniversary on April 8th. I can't imagine life without him. He is the love of my life, and I stay amazed at him everyday. I am so proud of him! I love you Paul!

Back From the Beach

Paul and I were fortunate to spend a relaxing week in Destin with my sister and her husband. A adult only trip. :) The weather was really nice and we all had a great time. Tiffany and I decided that we would try a spa experience one day while the guys played golf. Spas are supposed to be relaxing, so this would be a great way to start out our week. We decided to get a body exfoliate and a facial with extraction. Neither were relaxing. We both agreed that the body exfoliate hurt and felt like the lady was scraping off our skin. The extraction in the facial meant a zit popping session. During my facial, the mirror broke and nearly fell on my head. I think the lady felt bad because the mirror broke and concentrated extra hard on popping my zits. Gross! I paid someone a $100 to pop my zits. Tiffany and I will always remember our experience at the Aveda Spa and laugh. On a more positive note, I was victorious in a game of bowling and miniature golf. Both of which I never win when it comes to playing against the competitive men of our family. I honestly thought that there was something wrong with the pins when I bowled a 201 in our first bowling game. Paul thought there was something wrong with the line when he nearly fell and sounded off alarms when fouling on the first frame. I got lucky with 3 holes in 1 at the miniature golf. We had a great time but were ready to see the kids and family. Evan and Elizabeth gave us lots of hugs and kisses. We love our kids and are so grateful for healthy, loving grandparents.
